An LTACH offers specialized treatment for each patient over a longer period of time than an acute short-stay hospital. This allows for the patient’s unique needs to be met at the most optimum level. While nursing homes care for patients over the long term they do not typically offer intensive medical treatment.
Patients at ASH receive treatment from 2 full-time physicians and 2 advanced practice providers such as a Nurse Practitioners 24 hours a day. Specialized care providers may also participate in the treatment process during the patients stay nurses, respiratory therapists and other members of the critical care team are also available 24 hours, 7 days a week.
The ASH Liaison team will assess the medical treatment needs and verify insurance coverage. ASH is Medicare certified and accepts most insurance coverage. Our staff will let you know if your insurance provider is in-network or not. Even if not in-network, we often work with insurance companies to obtain in-network coverage.
The Care Management Team works with patients, families and care providers to determine the most appropriate level of care needed after LTACH treatment is no longer needed. Most patients discharge to:
- Home
- Acute inpatient rehab
- Skilled nursing centers
- Assisted living residences
