Gastroenterology
The pediatric GI team at Mission Children’s Hospital provides care for infants, children and adolescents with disorders of the digestive system, as well as serious eating and nutritional problems. Our care team includes board certified, pediatric GI physicians and radiologists, pediatric advanced practitioners, pediatric occupational therapists and speech/language pathologists, feeding team, nurses, dietitians and social workers.

- Esophagitis and swallowing problems
- Vomiting and gastroesophageal reflux (GERD)
- Stomach disorders such as peptic ulcer disease
- Celiac disease
- Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis)
- Severe constipation and fecal incontinence
- Rectal bleeding
- Chronic diarrhea
- Jaundice and liver diseases
- Pancreatitis and other pancreatic disorders, including cystic fibrosis
- Birth defects of the digestive system
- Complex nutritional disorders
- Feeding disorders
- Poor growth and failure to thrive
- Gut food allergies and sensitivities including wheat/gluten
Specialized Services
- Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy (including upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy)
- Hydrogen breath tests (tests food intolerances)
- Esophageal pH studies (measures stomach acid reflux), including the wireless Bravo pH monitoring system
