Nurse Navigation Services
Nurse navigators are registered nurses with specialized training and certifications in oncology (or cancer care). They provide support and advocacy through each phase of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. At Mission, our nurse navigators are trained to initiate and facilitate timely communication with each member of a patient’s care team, and guide patients each step of the way through their care, ensuring they receive the right treatment at the right time. Additionally, our nurse navigators provide education, resources, emotional support and advocacy, and provide access to appropriate support groups and community resources.
Our goal is to see that you have the resources, expertise, and support you need for a successful recovery.
Our nurse navigators can provide:
- Assistance in making informed decisions about treatment and care
- Customized education about individual cancer diagnosis and treatment options
- Assistance with coordination of care
- Navigation of resources offered by Mission and throughout the community
- Emotional support
- A weekly multidisciplinary conference coordinated with the patient’s medical care team
