Pediatric Sedation

Our sedation team uses medicine to help your child be relaxed, calm, sleepy and still during medical procedures and testing. Patients receiving sedation appear very sleepy but are able to breathe on their own and respond to voice and touch. During the procedure your child will have their breathing, heart rate and blood pressure checked often. The sedation team at Mission Children’s Hospital is the only credentialed pediatric sedation team in western North Carolina.

A physician referral is required for our sedation services.
