Structural Heart

Mission Structural Heart Clinic – World Class Solutions

Mission Structural Heart Clinic (SHC) assembled a team of pioneering physicians, nurses, and staff, performing cutting-edge procedures for a number of other heart conditions through a minimally invasive catheter approach. Complementing its technological capability, Mission Structural Heart Clinic (SHC) is distinguished by a unique collaborative approach. This clinic is designed to determine the best treatment options for patient with symptomatic, sever aortic stenosis.

Left Atrial Appendage Closure Device Procedure

This minimally invasive procedure provides an alternative treatment to long-term anticoagulants for the prevention of stroke in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.

The LAAC device provided patients with comparable overall protection against all-cause stoke and statistically superior reduction in cardiovascular death and major bleeding compared to warfin. The LAAC device allowed the vast majority of patients to stop taking warfarin after 45 days to one year.

Mission’s LAAC device implant team includes echocardiographers, interventional cardiologists, cardiac electrophysiologist, cardiac surgeons and anesthesiologists.

TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)

The Mission Heart approach to treating Aortic Stenosis (AS) emphasizes collaboration and convenience. This is the least invasive option for patients with severe aortic stenosis not amendable to conventional surgery to treat problematic heart valve conditions.

TAVR has been FDA approved and designed for the patients with severe aortic valve stenosis who are at high risk for complications by traditional surgery. With TAVR, the valve is inserted via catheter and implanted within the diseased native aortic valve.

Since 2012, nearly 300 such procedures have been performed at Mission Heart. Mission serves as reference training center site sharing innovative approaches to such procedures as TAVR.
