Our Comprehensive Services Include:

Athletic Training

Mission Sports Medicine’s skilled team of nationally certified and state licensed athletic trainers provides immediate, on-site evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation for emergent, acute, and chronic sports-related injuries and illnesses. Our athletic trainers serve as liaisons to Mission Sports Medicine’s physicians, providing sideline care for youth, adult, professional, competitive, and recreational sports.

Primary Care Sports Medicine

Our experienced, fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine physicians specialize in the diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment of musculoskeletal injuries including sprains, strains and fractures, as well as sports-related illness, nutrition and concussion management. They guide patients through treatment, facilitating access to other specialists as needed.

Orthopedic Surgery

Our board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeons diagnose and treat all bone, muscle, cartilage, tendon and ligament injuries. Mission Health offers specialized care for all injuries of the foot, ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, spine, elbow and hand, and uses the latest in conservative care and minimally invasive surgery to maximize function and minimize time away from activity.

Pediatric Orthopedics

At Mission Sports Medicine, we believe that growing bones deserve specialized care, and bring together the region’s most skilled pediatric orthopedic surgeons, who diagnose, treat and manage all musculoskeletal disorders and injuries in children, from broken bones to congenital disorders. Our pediatric orthopedic surgeons offer care for injuries and disorders of the arms, legs, hip and spine, and have special expertise in treating growth plate fractures, ensuring bones heal and develop properly. At Mission, we pride ourselves on creating a comfortable, friendly environment for children and families, and take time with parents to educate, reassure and answer any questions they may have.

Concussion Management

Mission Sports Medicine provides comprehensive assessment and management of sports-related concussion to help patients recover safely and effectively. We offer community outreach and education on the importance of identifying and receiving proper care for traumatic brain injuries.

Mission Sports Medicine is the premier spots concussion program in western North Carolina, and is the first program in the area to partner with ImPact Applications, a cloud-based neurocognitive tool used to diagnose and assess recovery from a concussion. We partner with local school systems to develop standards of care and protocols to meet NC Department of Instruction mandates and safely return athletes to play. Additionally, we work to educate local emergency, urgent care, and primary care providers on best concussion assessment and management practices, as well as North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) concussion regulations.

Rehabilitation

We facilitate access to certified physical therapists and community partners who provide personalized recovery programs to help get you back to activity. Our partners provide a variety of personalized, therapeutic rehabilitation services to help restore function, increase strength and flexibility, decrease pain and prevent future re-injury
