Chad Patrick
Chief Executive Officer, Mission Hospital

Chad Patrick is CEO of Mission Hospital, an operating division of HCA Healthcare, located in Asheville, North Carolina, which serves as the regional referral center for tertiary and quaternary care in Western North Carolina and the adjoining region. Mission Hospital is licensed for 815 beds and houses the region’s only dedicated Level II trauma center. It also includes Mission Children’s Hospital – the region’s only children’s hospital. The flagship hospital of Mission Health, Mission Hospital was ranked as one of the nation’s Top 100 Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics from 2009 to 2015.

Appointed to Mission in July 2019, Patrick had served as CEO of HCA Healthcare’s Orange Park Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL, for the previous six years. Under his leadership the hospital opened a heart and lung center, pioneered robotic lung lobectomy surgery, doubled the size of the hospital’s ER and opened an inpatient rehabilitation center. In addition, the Orange Park team expanded services, including opening a new 42-bed patient tower, Level II trauma center, Graduate Medical Education program, two successful freestanding ERs, and pediatric ER and surgical services.

Prior to joining HCA Healthcare, Patrick served as the Division President for RegionalCare Hospital Partners, a five-hospital healthcare system. Preceding his role at RegionalCare, he served as President and CEO of Meadowview Regional Medical Center, CEO of Dayton Heart Hospital, Executive Vice President/COO for the Southwest Ohio Region at Catholic Health Partners and began his career as a respiratory therapist.

Patrick studied health services administration at the University of Central Florida where he received his Masters of Healthcare Administration; previous, he received his bachelors of science in respiratory therapy from Ohio State University.

Wyatt Chocklett
Chief Operating Officer, Mission Hospital

Wyatt joined Mission Hospital in October of 2021. He earned a Bachelor of Science, Biology, and Chemistry from Newberry College in South Carolina, a Master of Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and a Masters of Arts, Management from Wake Forrest University in Winston-Salem. He joins us with his wife Pia and two sons, Galen and Sam. In addition, Wyatt enjoys playing golf, exploring local parks, and riding Peloton a few times a week in his spare time.

Laurie HaynesLaurie Haynes,
Chief Financial Officer, Mission Hospital

Laurie Haynes is the Chief Financial Officer for Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina, and has been serving in the role since November 2019.

Laurie has been with HCA Healthcare her entire 20-year career. She started in Internal Audit in Nashville, Tennessee, and subsequently held the Controller position at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida, and the North Florida Division Office in Tallahassee, Florida. She joined Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center in Panama City, Florida, as Chief Financial Officer in 2011 where she served as both the Ethics and Compliance Officer and Chief Staffing Officer during her tenure. In November 2016, she transitioned to Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as the Chief Financial Officer. Throughout her career, she has been active in the community, including volunteering for Girls, Inc., Junior Achievement and her local churches.

Laurie earned her Bachelor of Science in Finance from Florida State University in 2000 and received her Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida in 2004. She and her husband, Randall, have two daughters, Christina and Emily. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and running.

Tony SpensieriAnthony Spensieri, MD, MBA, FHM, CHCQM
Chief Medical Officer, Mission Hospital

Anthony (Tony) Michael Spensieri, a native of Staten Island, New York, was appointed Chief Medical Officer of Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina, in November 2019. Previously serving as the CMO at Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, from July 2012 to October 2019.

As CMO, Dr. Spensieri is leading hospital initiatives relating to quality improvement, patient safety and clinical effectiveness, working closely with hospital personnel and medical staff. Dr. Spensieri leads the clinical agenda and Culture of Safety.

Prior to joining Henrico Doctors Hospital, Dr. Spensieri served as a Managing Partner and Laboratory Director for Commonwealth Primary Care, a 50+ member independent primary care group. He was a founding partner of Commonwealth Hospitalist Services and served as Medical Director. CHS started the Hospitalist program at Henrico Doctors Hospital in 2004. In addition, he received HCA’s Frist Humanitarian Award in honor of his patient advocacy and commitment.

Dr. Spensieri is a Fellow of the Society of Hospital Medicine and a member of Richmond Academy of Medicine, Medical Society of Virginia, American College of Physician Executives and American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review.
Dr. Spensieri is board certified in internal medicine and a Diplomat of the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review. Dr. Spensieri is a graduate of Wagner College in Staten Island, New York, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology. He received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed his residency at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in New York. He received his executive MBA degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2013.

Melanie Wetmore, Chief Nursing Officer

Melanie Wetmore has over 26 years of healthcare experience, including sixteen years in nursing leadership roles. She has served as Chief Nursing Officer since May of 2018 at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson, Florida and has been with HCA for six years. She came to Bayonet Point from Oak Hill Hospital, where she served as Assistant Chief Nursing Officer. Prior to Oak Hill she was Director of Emergency Services at Memorial Hospital of Tampa. Melanie is a graduate of HCA Healthcare’s Executive Development Program.

Melanie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the State University of New York College at Brockport in Brockport, New York. She attained a Master of Science degree in Nursing Leadership from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida and has her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Walden University. Melanie is a Board Certified Emergency Nurse, a Certified Nurse Executive, and is a Certified Professional in Patient Safety.
