Clinical Genetics Fullerton Genetics Center is the region’s only comprehensive genetics and personalized medicine program, with two geneticists board-certified in Medical Genetics and Genomics and Genetic Counselors board-certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. Referral Request Form Clinical Genetic Evaluation and Counseling Services For patients with a known or suspected genetic disorder, birth defect, intellectual disability, dysmorphic features, or an increased risk for similar problems in pregnancy or by birth. Genetic Counseling for Hereditary Cancer A Genetic Counselor will meet with you to carefully review your personal and family cancer history, the basics of hereditary cancer, and discuss your risks. If genetic testing is appropriate, the genetic counselor will discuss the benefits, risks, and limitations of testing to help you decide whether this testing is right for you. Personalized Medicine Clinic A multidisciplinary team specializing in the genetics of drug response to help clinicians and patients better manage medications for non-cancer conditions and help predict future pharmacotherapy. Telemedicine Services and Locations Mission’s Fullerton Genetics Center now provides telehealth consultations at Angel Medical Center in Franklin so patients do not have to drive to Asheville for genetic counseling, evaluation, and testing. Patients from the Franklin region will be scheduled at Angel Medical Center to meet with the genetic providers by video, then complete genetic testing if indicated all in one visit! Services are provided for all ages, from newborn to adult for patients with a known or suspected genetic disorder, birth defect, intellectual disability, dysmorphic features, an increased risk for similar problems in pregnancy or by birth, and drug metabolism concerns.
