Trauma & Acute Care Surgery

The Trauma & Acute Care Surgery and Orthopedic Trauma Service physicians of Mission Hospital are here to treat the most severely injured patients from the region. These two surgical services are staffed with board certified, highly skilled, quality focused, compassionate physicians and midlevel providers. Mission Hospital is the only designated Trauma Center in western North Carolina. Our regional trauma system was established to ensure that people with serious injury receive appropriate stabilization, transport and high quality trauma care. From first responders and community hospitals to the trauma center and rehabilitation facilities, our region has a robust coordinated network of providers. By working together, we provide exceptional trauma care every hour of every day.

Orthopedic Trauma

Mission Hospital is the only designated trauma center in western North Carolina (State designated Level II Trauma Center).

As a designated trauma center, Mission Hospital accepts all trauma patients from the region. Regional hospital referrals are accepted by Mission's Emergency Department physicians on behalf of the Trauma Surgeons. Injured patients may also arrive via EMS or self referral from anywhere in the region.
